Virtual End Childhood Cancer Run Series

Kick off your summer in a meaningful way by joining Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) for a weekend-long running series taking place over Memorial Day Weekend. The race weekend starts with a one-mile challenge on Friday, followed by a 5K on Saturday, and concluding with a 10K on Sunday. Participants up for a challenge can participate in all three levels in the series, or you may select any one distance to walk or run on any of the dates. There’s an option for everyone, from avid walkers to dedicated runners, and every step takes kids with cancer closer to cures. Participants at all levels can log their times online to share during the event weekend.

For runners or walkers participating in all three distances (1 mile, 5K and 10K), we recommend spacing out the races accordingly throughout the weekend:

  • Friday, May 27: 1 mile
  • Saturday, May 28: 5K (3.1 miles)
  • Sunday, May 29: 10K (6.2 miles)

Pricing

  • Free Participant - 1 mile, 5K or 10K: $0

    • Free participants have the option to participate in any of the three distance levels. They will have access to all downloadable materials for the event on the participant portal which include a virtual bib, virtual finisher certificate, social media graphics and customizable cheer signs.

  • Paid Participant - 1 mile, 5K or 10K: $30 ($27 tax-deductible)

    • Paid participants have the option to participate in any of the three distance levels. They will have access to all downloadable materials for the event on the participant portal and receive a finisher medal to be shipped 4-6 weeks following the event.

  • Challenge Participant - 1 mile, 5K and 10K: $65 ($58 tax-deductible)

    • Challenge participants are enrolled in all three distance levels in the series. They will have access to all downloadable materials for the event on the participant portal. They will also receive a finisher medal and a limited-edition event t-shirt to be shipped 4-6 weeks following the event.

Participants will gain access to special event materials the week of the event - there will be helpful resources, downloadable graphics like mile markers and cheer signs, plus content to get you excited for event weekend! Participants of all levels are welcome to log their times, and leaderboards for each distance will be posted to the participant portal during the series. Please expect a slight delay when entering times. Time logging instructions will be sent to participants the week prior to the event.

Every contribution will add up to much-needed research funding to help find safer, more effective treatments for children facing a cancer diagnosis. Challenge yourself and others to go the extra mile in the fight against childhood cancer by registering for the Virtual End Childhood Cancer Run Series today.

Fundraising Tips

We encourage participants to fundraise as teams or individuals. Here are some tips to help make fundraising for your run a big success. Every dollar helps make a difference for kids with cancer!

  • Use your ALSF fundraising page: Raise funds for your event online – send the link to your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates so that they can contribute to the cause. You can also fundraise through Facebook; if you opt to fundraise this way, please let us know directly so we can assist with properly tracking and coding your donations.
  • Social media: Use social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn to spread the word about the virtual event! Tag your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates to join you. RSVP ‘Going’ on the ALSF Facebook event page and invite your friends. Join the general ALSF Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to find out up-to-date information about the latest developments with the event.
  • Accept donations by check: Make sure to tell your donors that they can donate to your Virtual End Childhood Cancer Run Series team by writing a check made payable to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They will receive a tax receipt for their donation. Make sure they include your event ID in the memo so the donation gets credited to your page.
  • Honor a hero: Your fundraising page features an honored hero – share the story of your hero with your friends and family and encourage them to make a donation as a way to further honoring this young childhood cancer fighter.
  • Hold a virtual fitness class: Gather a group of friends to virtually work out with you for a donation to your page. This is a great way to train for the run series too!
  • Matching gift programs: Often companies will match their employee’s donations to charitable causes, so a $20 donation to your event could easily become $40! Check to see if your comapny offers matching here.

As always, we are here to help! Please do not hesitate to contact Mikey Tauber or Sara Moyer for assistance - [email protected] or [email protected]
