Wow, September is almost over! What a great month it proved to be for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the battle against childhood cancer. We were proud to continue to raise awareness and funds for the disease during the national awareness month, and hope that as the years pass that more people will become aware of the commemorative time. We were lucky enough to have a special campaign throughout September as many old and new supporters held Strawberry Shortcake lemonade stands. These events created a great deal of momentum, and we are hoping to keep it going with some spooky fundraisers in October!

If you have followed the foundation, you may know that we have had The Great Lemon Event, a Halloween themed program, for many years. New in 2010, we are introducing the Boo-tastic Lemonade Stand, giving all of our supports one more reason to wear a costume (why not be a lemon, or make an all yellow costume?)! This year, we hope that our supporters will get in the spirit of Halloween by hosting a Boo-tastic Lemonade Stand Fundraising event in their neighborhood, school, or business. So what is a Boo-tastic lemonade stand you ask – well that part is up to you! Whether you decorate your lemonade stand with creepy crawly bugs, make witchie lemonade to serve, or go all out by hosting a Halloween block party with a haunted house – the connecting theme is to raise funds and awareness for ALSF while integrating Halloween fun. For those of you in the Philadelphia area, there is one other spooktacular event that we should tell you about. For the second year in a row, ALSF is teaming up with the Jason Matthew Salon to host a Celebrity Casino Night. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, October 28, and take on a Halloween theme! Costumes are not required, but a spellbounding prize will be awarded to the best. Attendees will also have the chance to win trips to Nantucket, Atlantic City or Las Vegas. Did we mention it’s only $25!
