When I open the mail (whether traditional or electronic) from one of our supporters, it is always a feel-good moment. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I've been sharing all the amazing mail we receive each week with the staff. It has been an uplifting and fun way to stay connected to each other and to motivate us to continue with our work helping dedicated supporters make a difference! I thought we would now start sharing with you, too.

Here are some stories from our creative supporters:

1.    Meet the Queen of Fundraising

Miriam Silva, current reigning Mrs. New Jersey 2020, spent some time raising over six times more money than her original fundraising goal. Miriam has been supporting ALSF since 2018 - what a great way to use her title! It is pretty difficult to say no to someone wearing a crown!

2.    School Spirit that Knows No Bounds

The Southwest Elementary School in Clemmons, NC held their 9th Annual Alex's Lemonade Stand early last month, and while they weren't all together this year, they did take the time to share a photo from last year. Despite some changes to how they were able to raise funds, they surpassed their goal! Just look at all those smiling faces in the slide show above!

3.    Celebrating Independence and Hope for Cures

Next, Suzanne Adler and her family spent their holiday weekend holding a 4th of July Fundraiser in memory of Julianna Edel and honor of Kelsey Berger. The money they raised is enough to fund four hours of research. Wow! And what a great collage they shared of their hardworking team!

4.    Video Chat Family Competitions

Finally, the Hauck family has come up with a charitable and competitive way to change up their weekly video chats! Steve and Sheri Hauck asked their five grandchildren to each prepare a presentation on their favorite charity. Each grandchild presented why their charity was important to them and the family voted on the winners! Steve and Sheri awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place picks with donations—and ALSF took first! What a great idea!

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is launching a social media campaign inspired by ALSF founder, Alex Scott’s positive outlook in times of uncertainty. We want to know how you are making lemonade out of lemons during this time - whether by learning new skills, getting creative, connecting with family or friends through video chat or doing something else that puts a sweet smile on your faces! Share your special moments with us on social media using the hashtag #MakeAlexsLemonade.
