October is the perfect month for running—in costume! Planning on participating in a Halloween 5K or other race this October, but not sure what to wear? Running in costume is a great way to add some fun to your run, but you need a disguise that won’t crumble under race day pressure.

We compiled a list of seven creative, safe and fun costumes you can wear while running — sure to help you go the distance, fast!

Don’t have a Halloween 5K planned? Well, we’ve got you covered with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Virtual End Childhood Cancer 5K - Halloween Edition. This spooktacular 5K supports much-needed childhood cancer research and can be done anytime, anywhere (and hopefully in costume, of course!)

Here is our list of seven running costumes that will keep you fast on your feet, as you run through your favorite haunts:

1.    Add Some Royalty to Your Run
Grab a royal crown or princess tiara and lace up your running shoes! Little royals can raid their dress-up bin for princess perfect dresses they toss on over their running gear. Bigger royals can grab a crown and their favorite princess t-shirt to stroll like the monarchs they are.

2.    Care Bear Countdown Your Way to the Finish Line
Dress your group in a rainbow of cheery Care Bears! Grab some hoodies, decorate the front with designs inspired by your favorite bear like Good Luck, Sleepy Time or Cheer Bear and put your hoodies up. This costume is beary cozy and perfect for a crisp Fall walk or run through your neighborhood!

3.    Power Up as a Pumpkin
What’s more classic than a pumpkin on Halloween? Spook-up your run as a jack-o-lantern with an easy store-bought costume that you can toss over your running gear. Or grab an orange t-shirt and add a jack-o-lantern face to the front with a black permanent marker. Bonus points if you use an actual pumpkin as a weight in your pre-race training.

4.    Add Some Kick to Your Kicks
Decorate your sneakers (and your mask!) with some Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation flair! Not a crafter? Check out all the End Childhood Cancer and Lemonade swag in Alex’s Shop! From fun masks to awesome t-shirts, Alex’s Shop has you covered.

5.    Be a Witch (No Broomstick Required)
Get inspired with some Hocus Pocus! Grab a witch’s hat, your black running shorts or tights and fly off on your 5K. If you want to add more witchy flair, choose a skirt that is short (tripping is not a spell you want to cast on yourself!) or shred it up, so you make it to the finish!

6.    Turn Lemons into the Running Lemon
On race day you can turn the sour lemon into the sweetest costume on your running route! Grab some yellow posterboard, cut it into a lemon shape and add some rope or ribbon and you’ve got a custom-fitted lemon costume for yourself, your child or your furry running mate! (You can also grab a lemon costume on AmazonSmile and slip it on over your 5K clothes!)

7.    Top Off Your Race
Keep your costume simple and top off your ensemble with a spooky hat or headpiece! Give your animal side a whirl with simple cat ears or a shark hat. Get fancy with a top hat or any fun, Halloween-themed head band! However you top it off, have fun being incognito during your Halloween 5K!

Need supplies for your running costume? Check out the ALSF store for lemon-themed gear or shop AmazonSmile to support ALSF!
