2018 Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand

Alex’s spirit was shining as brightly as the sun was at Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand. The rain held off all day to provide a perfect summer Saturday. Families and friends flocked to Penn Wynne Elementary to reminisce about how Alex’s story continues to inspire students at the school to this day.

From competitive carnival games to the delightful sack races and special butterfly release to honor all kids affected by childhood cancer, it was a memorable day all around. Of course, there was plenty of lemonade handed out too. Special congratulations are in order for John McPeak, who came out victorious in this year’s Volvo raffle.

2017 Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand

The 2017 Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand featured supporters of all ages whose enthusiasm lasted well into the afternoon. We even welcomed a celebrity guest; film and television actress Bailee Madison walked around the event to take pictures, much to the delight of many kids in attendance. Just like the attendees, the fundraising didn’t slow down either. We raised more than $90,000 during the event and even crossed the amazing $1 million mark for the event since Alex Scott held her first stand at Penn Wynne Elementary back in 2004.

2016 Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the 2016 Alex's Original Lemonade Stand! Through the incredible generosity of our supporters, the event raised $100,000 for childhood cancer research. Highlights of the day included a fun group dance by Penn Wynne Students to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling", inspirational words from Liz and Jay Scott, followed by a beautiful butterfly release to commemorate all of our childhood cancer heroes. Perhaps the most exciting part of the day came at the end when the winner of the Annual Volvo Raffle was not only present, but also happened to be a Hero Family, winning a brand new Volvo XC90, donated by Volvo Cars of North America.

Each June, on the Saturday of Alex's Lemonade Days weekend, one of our most important lemonade stands of the year is held to honor the tradition of Alex’s annual summer lemonade stand. Appropriately named Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand, Alex’s friends and family continue to hold her stand, which has evolved into a family fun event complete with food, games, crafts, face-painting, music, raffles, and (of course) lemonade, held at the school Alex attended, Penn Wynne Elementary School.

2015 Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand

Thanks to everyone who made Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand on Saturday, June 13, 2015 such a meaningful and successful event. A true community effort, the event brought thousands of supporters together for a day of inspiration, hope, fun and remembrance, raising more than $100,000 and counting for childhood cancer research.

Many childhood cancer hero families attended the event, along with Foundation supporters, Penn Wynne neighbors and families from all over the area. The attendees enjoyed carnival games, a silent auction, raffles, delicious food and lots and lots of thirst-quenching lemonade. A butterfly release commemorated and celebrated the lives of all children who have fought cancer.

Alex’s “Original” is held at Penn Wynne Elementary School, which Alex Scott and her brothers attended. Other highlights from the day included an inspiring group dance to Alesso’s “Heroes (We Could Be),” a selfie stand and a special appearance from ALSF’s youth celebrity supporter Bailee Madison.

Kaela Cruz, a childhood cancer hero, assisted with the Volvo raffle and selected the winning ticket. The winner won a brand new 2015 Volvo XC60, donated by Volvo Cars of North America.

Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand was presented by sponsors Country Time, Northwestern Mutual Eastern Pennsylvania and Volvo Cars of North America.

2014 Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand

Thanks to everyone who supported Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand on June 7, 2014!

Saturday, June 7, 2014 was a gorgeous day of inspiration and hope for the nearly 3,000 supporters who came out to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand.  Held at Penn Wynne Elementary School, which Alex Scott attended, this year’s Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand raised nearly $100,000 for pediatric cancer research!

Many childhood cancer hero families attended the event along with Foundation supporters, Penn Wynne neighbors, and families from all over the area. They enjoyed carnival games, a moonbounce, a silent auction, raffles, and lots and lots of thirst-quenching lemonade.

Liz and Jay Scott, Alex’s parents, spoke at the event about their daughter Alex’s amazing legacy and seeing her “Original” Lemonade Stand and the Foundation grow over the past ten years.  This year’s event was especially poignant because it was the tenth anniversary and because, had Alex lived, she would have been graduating from high school next week. NBC Nightly News reported on how ALSF has now surpassed Alex’s original ambitious fundraising goal of $1 million - by $79 million!

Other highlights of the day included:
•    A kids’ group dance routine to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”
•    A butterfly release to commemorate and celebrate the lives of children who have suffered from or are fighting childhood cancer
•    A special visit from ALSF celebrity supporter Bailee Madison (Trophy Wife, Parental Guidance, Wizards of Waverly Place)
•    The drawing of the winner of the raffle for a brand new 2015 Volvo XC60, donated by Volvo Cars of North America

Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand was presented by sponsors Country Time and Volvo Cars of North America. Stand sponsors were Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms, Liberty Me Dance Center, Penn Fertility Care, and Sila Heating and Air Conditioning.
