“Alex’s Coast Run” and Fun in the Park - Saturday, August 12, 2017

ILWU Walk the Coast in Los Angeles will host a family-friendly community event on Saturday, August 12th at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro.  Bring the family for the spectacular ocean-view Alex’s Coast Run 5K, or 1 mile family walk and a 1K Kids’ Run.  The awards program, from 10:00 until noon, will feature speakers, live music, kids’ games, food trucks, and more.  At this time, it is anticipated that the run will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the Fun in the Park program will conclude at 12 noon. 

The 5k race and 1 mile family walk starts at 8:30 a.m. Mom and Dad can race and then enjoy, in full view of the Point Fermin Lighthouse, the 9:30 AM 1K Kids run.

Los Angeles Area Event - Saturday, July 22, 2017

ILWU Walk the Coast in Los Angeles will conduct our 6th Annual Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament on Saturday, July 22, 2017, starting at 6:00 p.m, at the Gardens Casino, 11871 East Carson Street, Hawaiian Gardens, CA 90716.  The event usually concludes around midnight ~ for those who make it to the “final table”.

In the fight against childhood cancer, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Walk the Coast Committee is hosting  annual fundraising drive for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. We are proud to note that the ILWU was a nationwide ALSF “Top Fundraiser” in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. 

We would like to thank ILWU Locals 13, 63, 94, 63 Office Clerical Unit; ILWU members; ILWU Southern California Pensioners; ILWU Credit Union; our employers (shipping lines & terminal operators); the offices of Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and City of Los Angeles Councilman Joe Buscaino; Harbor area businesses; all of our generous sponsors and community members who participated, donated, and supported our efforts.  TOGETHER can we make a difference.
