Desmoplastic small round cell tumor is a rare cancer that affects children and young adults. Most patients have very advanced disease already when they are diagnosed, and the long-term survival rate is low. Current treatments can't cure DSRCT and are very toxic. Patients who do survive are often left with debilitating side effects that last the rest of their lives. We have developed a new type of radiation therapy that targets the tumor cells specifically without harming normal tissue. In mice, this type of therapy can cure tumors without causing toxicity.

Acute myelogeneous leukemia (AML) remains a therapeutic dilemma both for children and adults with long-term cure rates still only 50-70%, even after a tissue type-matched bone marrow transplant.

Neuroblastoma is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in infancy and accounts for 15% of all deaths due to childhood cancers. Recent progress has been made in therapies involving antibodies that recognize neuroblastoma cells and target them for destruction. Unfortunately, many children do not respond to the antibody therapy, because the immune cells that are responsible for killing the tumor are suppressed.
