Philadelphia’s Most Inspiring, Cancer-Fighting 5K, The Lemon Run, Returns Sunday, November 12, 2017

The 9th annual event brings together families of childhood cancer fighters, friends, supporters and athletes.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, will host The Lemon Run Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Dash, presented by Volvo, on Sunday, November 12 at 8 AM at Memorial Hall in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.

The 9th annual event brings athletes of all abilities together to support the battle against childhood cancer. Participants are encouraged to register in advance to receive reduced rates, including a special rate for kids 12 and under, to encourage them to participate in their first 5K. Registration is available up until and on the day of the event, but increased rates will apply.

Running enthusiasts and all ALSF supporters are invited to participate or attend the event to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. The 3.1 mile course runs through West Fairmount Park and is perfect for first time 5K runners.

As always, participants are encouraged to form a team, bringing together friends, family and even their dogs (the course is dog- and stroller-friendly!) to challenge themselves to complete the course and raise additional funds. Several teams honor childhood cancer heroes, like Austin’s Avengers in memory of Austin Burke. Since 2014, Austin’s family and friends have raised over $30,000 for childhood cancer research in his honor.

The Lemon Run is family-friendly with activities like the Kids’ Dash for kids 8 and under. Winners in each age group will be recognized at the end of the race, along with top fundraising teams. The day’s festivities will also include various forms of entertainment, music and guest speakers.

Supporters don’t have to live in the Philadelphia area to participate in The Lemon Run. Anyone can be an out of town participant and complete a 5K run or walk in their hometown. This allows participants to be with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in spirit and help kids with cancer anywhere and everywhere.
