Audrey is a creative ray of light. Although she is just 6 years old, people are drawn to her. She has a positive aura about her.

When Audrey started having random heart palpitations, it led to her undergoing bloodwork that showed slightly elevated white blood cell counts. The emergency department at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) was not concerned though. Five months later, a test for celiac disease again revealed very high white blood cell counts, and Audrey was admitted to CHOP. A bone marrow biopsy soon confirmed that Audrey had chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

Since then, her treatment has included oral chemotherapy, having her blood drawn twice a week and bone marrow biopsies.

In the future, her family hopes that her special spark returns. She is the bravest and kindest little girl that her parents know. Her heart is so pure and she sees goodness in everyone. In their eyes, that’s what makes her a hero.

This diagnosis is still new to their family, so they are still learning about the disease. For now, they are looking for other families with pediatric CML diagnosis for support because it is such a rare childhood cancer.

While they are new to this world, they are grateful for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They recently started the SuperSibs program to help Audrey’s sister, Liliana, feel special while her parents have to spend a bit more time supporting Audrey during her fight. They also pray for more research and of course a cure.
