Kaitlyn is a tomboy and loves all sports, especially football. She enjoys being outside and doing stuff with her hands. She’s a very active teenager.

Her brother Kaleb has battled acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of childhood cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many white blood cells. Kaitlyn encourages her brother when he’s having a tough day, has his back and will do anything for him.

Kaitlyn is pretty shy around those she doesn't know and does not like being in the spotlight. At school she had to talk with so many teachers who wanted to know how Kaleb was doing. Being the Cameron family “representative” really pushed her out of her comfort zone.

Kaleb’s hospital stays were hard on Kaitlyn because they meant being shuffled back and forth after school and not having a lot of time to play. She didn't like the way the hospital smelled, but when Kaleb would ask her to spend the night she would. She didn't want to, but she did it for her brother.

She matured a lot during Kaleb’s first year of treatment. Kaitlyn had to adjust to not having both mom and dad available to her and the whole family relied on help from others. Kaleb is now in remission.

To help her during the tough times, Kaitlyn’s family tried to always make sure she was included and involved, and that she had time to have some of her own fun too.
