Epidemiology of Pediatric Germ Cell Tumors: Outcomes and Comparison of Incidence Rates

Background

Germ cell tumors (GCT) are the second most common type of cancer from the ages of 15-19, and comprise 3.5% of all childhood cancers. Most children who are diagnosed with GCTs are cured; however, little is known about the long-term effects of treatment.

Project Goals

Kari will be working to collect information about outcomes and advere effect of treatment in children with GCTs. This project will help her become more familiar with data collecction methods and protocols, procedures and best practices for contacting study participants, and new software to analyze childhood cancer incidence data.
