Although a major focus of our actions during September, National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, have to do with spreading the word about the devastating disease - we also think that it's important to report on the progress that your efforts are making possible on the childhood cancer research front. Check out the video below from one of our research grantees, Andrew Napper, PhD, of the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research.

Dr. Napper's research is looking to develop new treatments for hard to treat types of acute lymphocyctic leukemia (ALL), specifically MLL rearranged leukemia. This type of the disease is very aggressive, common in infants and can often lead to a grim prognosis for these young children as current therapies are often unsuccessful.With the research funding from ALSF, Dr. Napper and his team have developed a screening tool that allows them to quickly test several hundred thousand compounds (compounds that can lead to new therapies) until they find one with promise.
