Day 3: Meet Edie

Home » Blog

Day 3 of The Million Mile - Run. Walk. Ride. and things are truly up and running...and walking...and riding! In keeping with our childhood cancer hero theme on this week's blog, today we'd like you to meet 5-year-old Edie Gilger. Edie is as strong-willed as she is adorable and has directly benefited from the research that Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation funds. After being diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was a baby, Edie participated in a clinical trial for children harboring a specific cancer causing gene. The trial was testing the effectiveness of a drug that was already being used to treat lung cancer in adults and specifically looks to disrupt this gene. If all goes as plans, the cancer disappears, which is exactly what happened with Edie. ALSF helped to fund the basic research that made the clinical trial possible.

Edie is one of the million reasons that we're going 1 million miles this September, please join us!
