In 2024, an estimated 15,000 children were diagnosed with cancer in the United States. While their fight continues year-round, September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – and what better time to remind hero families that they’re not in this fight alone?

No matter who you are or how you’ve been impacted by childhood cancer, you have the power to make a difference. Here are just a few small ways that you can make an impact on childhood cancer heroes this September:

1.    Join The Million Mile

How far would you go for kids with cancer? This September, you can challenge yourself to walk, run or bike alongside thousands of supporters to help reach a collective goal of going one million miles while raising millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

2.    Share Your Story

Have you or someone you know been impacted by childhood cancer? Parents can submit their child’s hero story or SuperSib story to our website. Or share your personal experience with other members of your community to raise awareness.

3.    Join the One Cup at a Time Club

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, you can stand for all kids with cancer. Become a monthly donor  and you'll get an exclusive Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) t-shirt so you can show your support year-round. This shirt is only available in September, so start your monthly gift today!

4.    Learn More about Childhood Cancer

Did you know that globally, an estimated 400,000+ new cases of cancer affect children each year? This number may even be vastly underestimated due to a significant number of undiagnosed cases. Find out more eye-opening facts about pediatric cancer in our Childhood Cancer Fact Library.

5.    Take to Social Media

Check out our social media resources for sample posts, graphics and more to help you amplify your voice. You can even follow ALSF on Facebook, InstagramXYouTube, and LinkedIn to stay connected to the cause.

6.    Host a Lemonade Stand

Alex Scott believed anyone could make a difference – that’s why she decided to host a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money for childhood cancer research. Today, you can help her legacy live on by hosting a lemonade stand of your own for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Simply sign up online and turn some lemons into lemonade!
