Join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) for our Virtual End Childhood Cancer Walk/Run in support of our COVID-19 emergency fund. We invite all ALSF supporters to come together virtually for this uplifting 5K (3.1 mile) Walk/Run that you can participate in from any location. Each participant will receive a bib that can be printed from home to sport during your walk/run. There is a registration option that includes a limited-edition t-shirt that will be sent directly to you following the race.

Now, more than ever, kids and families going through cancer treatment need our help. Children in treatment are immunocompromised, making them one of the groups most susceptible to COVID-19. Their treatment cannot stop and families are now facing added economic strain and uncertainty as this pandemic continues to unfold. ALSF’s COVID-19 emergency fund directly supports families’ immediate needs by providing grocery assistance, extending safe, isolated lodging near treatment centers, and facilitating travel for care where possible. Your support will directly help these families in need.

We encourage fundraising as teams or individuals leading up to race day! Creating a virtual team with friends and family is a great way to stay connected while social distancing. You can participate in the race by walking or running outside within a safe distance from others, or by using a treadmill indoors. Consider this as a warm-up for The Million Mile in September, or as a way to train for many of our Team Lemon races that occur year-round!

On race day, inspire others by sharing your photos or videos with us on social media and tag @AlexsLemonade. Find positivity during these difficult times by asking family members, friends and colleagues to help end childhood cancer, one step at a time.

Fundraising Tips

We’ve got some great ideas to help make your Virtual End Childhood Cancer Walk/Run fundraising event a big success. Every dollar helps make a difference for kids with cancer!

  • Use your ALSF fundraising page: Raise funds for your event online – send the link to your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates so that they can contribute to the cause.
  • Social media: Use social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn to spread the word about the virtual event! Tag your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates to join you. RSVP ‘Going’ on the ALSF Facebook event page and invite your friends. Join the general ALSF Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to find out up-to-date information about what we’re doing.
  • Accept donations by check: Make sure to tell your donors that they can donate to your Virtual End Childhood Cancer Walk/Run Team by writing a check made payable to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They will receive a tax receipt for their donation. Make sure they include your event ID so the donation gets credited to your page.
  • Over 21? Host a ‘virtual happy hour’ from the comfort of your own home! Recruit your friends, family, and co-workers virtually to join your team.
  • Honor a hero: Your fundraising page features an honored hero – share the story of your honored hero with your friends and family and encourage them to make a donation as a way of further honoring this young childhood cancer fighter.
  • Hold a virtual fitness class: Gather a group of friends to work out with you for a donation to your page. This is a great way to get prepared for the 5K too!
  • Public relations/Media assistance: For help with garnering media attention please contact Public Relations Specialist Rachel Simpson at [email protected].
  • Matching gift programs: Often companies will match their employee’s donations to charitable causes, so a $20 donation to your event could easily become $40!

As always, we are here to help! Please do not hesitate to contact Sara Moyer for assistance at [email protected]
