Learn about The Lemon Ball!

Join Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) for the Virtual Lemon Climb and challenge yourself to end the 2020 year strong! Although COVID-19 has halted our ability to host our annual in-person stair climb, we won’t let it stop us from coming together virtually. Participants will have the option to virtually climb the stairs to the top of four different iconic U.S. buildings:

  • LEVEL 1 - The Statue of Liberty: 20 stories, 354 steps, 305 feet tall
  • LEVEL 2 - Space Needle: 90 flights of stairs, 832 steps, 605 feet tall
  • LEVEL 3 - 600 Travis Building*: 75 flights of stairs, 1,668 steps, 1,002 feet tall
  • LEVEL 4 - Empire State Building: 86 flights of stairs, 1,576 steps, 1,250 feet tall

*600 Travis is the site of ALSF's annual Lemon Climb Houston event.

Each level varies in difficulty and can be done in several creative ways. Climb stairs from the comfort of your own home’s steps, outside at a local hiking trail, on a set of outdoor steps in your neighborhood, or on your own exercise equipment (treadmill, stair-stepper, elliptical). However you choose to climb, push yourself to new heights while having fun and supporting a great cause. We encourage fundraising as teams or individuals leading up to the day of the stair climb, which is also a great way to stay connected with friends and family while social distancing.

All participants will receive a link to a downloadable bib that can be printed from home to sport during their stair climb. You can register for free, or for $25 you can register with a limited-edition t-shirt that will be sent directly to your home.

Participants who are interested in registering with a limited-edition t-shirt have two options:

  • To receive your shirt prior to the stair climb, you must register no later than Friday, October 23rd
  • Anyone who registers after the deadline of Friday, October 23rd will receive their shirt 2-3 weeks after the stair climb.

Feel free to use a FitBit, Apple Watch, Garmin Watch, or any tracking device/app to help monitor your stair climb progress. On event day, be sure to share your inspiring photos or videos with us on social media and tag @AlexsLemonade. We hope you can join us in finishing out 2020 strong and most importantly, help us end childhood cancer, one step at a time!

    Virtual Climb Kids

    Fundraising

We’ve got some great ideas to help make your Virtual Lemon Climb fundraising event for 2020 a big success. Every dollar helps make a difference for kids with cancer!

    • Use your ALSF fundraising page: Raise funds for your event online – send the link to your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates so that they can contribute to the cause.
    • Social Media:  Use social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn to spread the word about the virtual event! Tag your friends, family, co-workers, and classmates to join you. RSVP ‘Going’ on the ALSF Facebook Event page, and invite your friends. Join the general ALSF Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to find out up-to-date information about what we’re doing.
    • Accept Donations by Check: Make sure to tell your donors that they can donate to your Virtual Lemon Climb Team by writing a check made payable to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. They will receive a tax receipt for their donation. Just make sure to include your event ID so the donation gets credited to your page.
    • Over 21? Host a ‘virtual happy hour’ from the comfort of your own home! Recruit your friends, family, and co-workers virtually to join your team.
    • Honor a Hero: Your fundraising page features an Honored Hero – share the story of your honored hero with your friends and family and encourage them to make a donation as a way of further honoring this young childhood cancer fighter.
    • Hold a virtual fitness class: Gather a group of friends to work out with you for a donation to your page. This is a great way to get prepared for your climb too!
    • Public Relations/Media Assistance: Fill out the Communications Assistance Questionnaire. For help with garnering media attention please contact [email protected]
    • Matching gift programs: Often companies will match their employee’s donations to charitable causes, so a $20 donation to your event could easily become $40!
