At Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, we know that childhood cancer affects the whole family, not only the child who receives the diagnosis.

Brothers and sisters of cancer patients often face fear, anxiety, changes in daily routines, worry, grief and even jealousy as their family is thrown into the emotional turmoil of managing a child’s cancer treatment.

SuperSibs, a program of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, is dedicated to comforting, encouraging, and empowering siblings during their family’s battle against childhood cancer, so these children and teens can face the future with courage and hope.

SuperSibs Programs

Comfort and Care Services

Sibling Comfort and Care – Our SuperSibs Comfort and Care Program provides tools to help siblings during and long after this life challenge. In addition, parents are provided with resources to ensure appropriate and effective support at home, in school or at the hospital.

Sib Spot

This section of the website includes activities, words of support and resources for siblings and is divided into 4 sections: 4- 7 years old, 8- 12 years old, teen and bereaved.  Each section meets the child where they are, both in age and in stage of their journey. For younger kids, adult supervision is required, but we recommend that you sit with your older kids to talk about the activities on each page.

SuperSib Ambassador Program

The SuperSib Ambassador program offers siblings of children with cancer an opportunity to share their stories and experiences with other kids, families, ALSF and SuperSib supporters, and even researchers. The program allows siblings to pick their own level of involvement which can range from speaking at events to visiting schools in their community (which usually include creative and fun lemonade stands!!).

The SuperSibs scholarship program has been discontinued, but our staff is happy to provide referrals to other sibling scholarships. Please email us at [email protected].

About ALSF and SuperSibs

SuperSibs was a national nonprofit organization that ensured siblings of children with cancer were honored, supported and recognized so they may face the future with strength, courage and hope. At the end of 2013, SuperSibs temporarily suspended its direct sibling support services due to a lack of funding. Recognizing the incredible importance of providing comfort and care services to siblings of children with cancer, the SuperSibs staff and board actively sought a partner that would not only restore sibling support services, but also allow the program as a whole to grow and evolve…and they found one! We are proud that they selected Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to take over the program, so that their important work can continue.
