Three Feel-Good Stories from Team Alex

By: Trish Adkins

Several weeks ago, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) made the decision to close the Foundation’s brick and mortar office and move Team Alex to their home offices. This pivot has made our team stronger than ever — and made all of us growing experts at remote work.

Team Alex has always been comprised of amazing individuals who excel at making lemonade when handed lemons. We are finding new ways to fight childhood cancer and to spread the optimistic, hopeful outlook that has guided ALSF from the beginning.

Here are three feel-good stories from the Foundation:

1.    Fighting childhood cancer, one step at a time.
Although we missed being with our supporters this past weekend, on what would have been the 3rd Annual Lemon Climb Houston event date, Team Alex kept climbing!

2.    Supporting our Greatest Chef Supporters
Special Events team member Laura Cocchia works hard every year with her team to pull off the Great Chefs Event series for ALSF. She shared some of the meaningful and generous contributions of culinary supporters on Instagram and also shared how everyone can rally to return the favor and support the hospitality industry in this time of need.

3.    Extra Sibling Time
(Full disclosure, these are the author’s children.)
My kids, Lily, who is a brain tumor survivor and her siblings Chloe and Nicholas, have been spending a lot of time together — sometimes fighting and other times quietly sharing a story.  This week, they took turns reading the book Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is launching a social media campaign inspired by ALSF founder Alex Scott’s  positive outlook in times of uncertainty. We want to know how you are making lemonade out of lemons during this time - whether by learning new skills, getting creative, connecting with family or friends through video chat or doing something else that puts a sweet smile on your faces!  However you're making lemonade out of this situation, we want to know! Share your special moments with us on social media by using the hashtag #MakeAlexsLemonade.

COVID-19 has disrupted everyday life in so many ways. For families in the midst of childhood cancer treatment, navigating a cancer diagnosis is more difficult than ever. You can help ALSF provide critical support to families as they travel for treatment and navigate cancer in a pandemic. Your donation can mean another hotel stay, another weeks’ worth of groceries, another day of peace of mind over finances for these families.

Together, we can help families navigate this uncertain time. Give today and make a meaningful difference for all children fighting this disease. Donate now.
