I guess what helps me get up in the morning is knowing that my brother is in a better place, wherever that may be, and he is always with me. No, it was not fair that he was taken away, but I have to go on with my life. Now, I think of the fun times that we had together growing up, instead of dwelling on those things that I wish I could change.
Having a sibling pass on is one of the toughest things a family can go through. You may feel all kinds of emotions and at times they may be overwhelming. It is always OK to talk about your feelings and ask for help. We know you are going through a hard time. Remember you are not alone…we are here for you… along with so many people who care about you.
Here are 5 Special Things to Remember
- Your parents love you!
- It’s OK to ask questions.
- Talk to someone you love about how you feel.
- Don’t measure your grief by anyone else’s standard. Grief is a complex emotion. Laughter and tears will often overlap – and that’s OK!
- It is OK to continue on with your life and participate in everyday activities.
